Rolled Puff Pastry With Ground Beef Cheese Filling – Similar To Borek

Rolled puff pastry with ground beef cheese filling is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be served as an appetizer or a main course. The flaky pastry combined with the savory beef and cheese filling creates a mouthwatering combination that everyone will love.

In this post, I’m sharing the recipe for making rolled puff pastry with ground beef cheese filling. This is similar to Borek, one of the popular snacks in the Middle East. For making borek, phyllo dough is used & for this one I’ve used puff pastry. Tasted quite close to borek as well.

  7. Close with the lid & cook covered for a few minutes till the ground beef has cooked through.
  8. Open the lid, cook till the liquid has dried off.
  9. Add all the spices along with 1 tsp salt, I've added Indian spices. You can literally add any kind of spices or seasonings of your choice. Combine well.
  10. Stir fry over high heat for a few minutes till the ground beef starts to turn golden brown, tastes better.
  11. Garnish with chopped cilantro, combine well.
  12. Take the pan off the heat & let cool down.

  14. This can be made well in advance and stored in an air-tight glass container & keep in the refrigerator for a week or in the freezer for a month.
  15. Preheat the oven to 400 F or 200 C.
  16. For making the puff pastry rolls I've taken 1 puff pastry sheet.
  17. Half the puff pastry sheet horizontally, so that we can make 2 rolls.
  18. For making more rolls use more puff pastry sheets
  19. Evenly spread the beef filling close to one of the ends, leaving about 2 inches of space.
  20. Spread the grated cheese over the beef filling.
  21. Gently fold the puff pastry sheet & seal the edges.
  22. Spread the beef filling & cheese on the other half of the puff pastry sheet as well.
  23. Grease an 8-inch baking pan with butter.
  24. Gently place the stuffed puff pastry rolls on the pan in the form of a coil.
  25. Make a coil shape with the other stuffed puff pastry roll as well around the already coiled puff pastry.
  26. Crack an egg into a bowl & beat well using a fork.
  27. Use a pastry brush, dip the brush in beaten egg & spread over the stuffed puff pastry rolls.
  28. Keep the pan in the preheated oven, on the center rack.
  29. Bake for 25 minutes till the puff pastry turns golden & crispy.
