All you can hear is the cracking crispy sound of this snack, it’s super-duper crispy. I’m not kidding. It’s the batter that’s used for coating the sandwich that has made this snack crispy. I’ve used beef filling, you can add any kind of filling of your choice.

Ingredients
For marinating beef cubes
  • Beef- 1 lb or ½ kg
  • Ginger, grated- ½ tbsp
  • Garlic, grated- ½ tbsp
  • Chili powder- 1 tsp
  • Kashmiri chili powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala- 1 tsp
  • Salt- 1½ tsp
For making the beef filling
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Onion, chopped- 3
  • Salt- ½ tsp
  • Garlic- 3 cloves
  • Ginger- 1-inch slice
  • Green chili- 1
  • Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  • Water- 1 tbsp
  • Cooked crushed beef
  • Cilantro, chopped- ¼ cup
Making the batter
  • Corn starch- ¾ cup
  • All-purpose flour- ½ cup
  • Ground black pepper- ¼ tsp
  • Salt- ½ tsp
  • Water-1 cup
Other Ingredients
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Bread slices
  • Chipotle Mayo or Plain Mayonnaise
  • Oil- enough for deep frying
Instructions
  1. Spread all the spices mentioned 'for marinating the beef' on the beef cubes, let marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
  2. I've used Instant pot to pressure cook the marinated beef. You can also use a regular pressure cooker.
  3. Add the beef to the stainless steel pot.
  4. Do not add any water.
  5. Select pressure cook setting, set time to 20 minutes at high pressure.
  6. After 20 minutes of pressure cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  7. There will be some liquid in the pot, drain the liquid & use that for making soups.
  8. We'll be only using the cooked beef.
  9. Let the beef cool down.
  10. Beef can be cooked ahead of time & store in the refrigerator for a few days or in the freezer for a few weeks.
  11. In a food processor, coarsely grind the cooked beef, keep aside. Do not ground to a smooth paste.
  12. Place a wide pan over medium heat, add 1 tbsp oil.
  13. Add the onions, season with salt.
  14. In a blender, coarsely grind the garlic, ginger, green chili & curry leaves along with 1 tbsp water together.
  15. Add the ground ginger-garlic-green chili mix to the onions.
  16. Cook till onions turn light golden in color.
  17. Add the coarsely ground cooked beef. Cook for 5 minutes.
  18. Add chopped cilantro, combine well.
  19. Remove the pan from the heat, let cool down.
  20. Beef filling is ready, this can be made ahead of time & stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
  21. In a bowl, combine the ingredients mentioned above 'for making the batter', make into a smooth thick batter. do not add more water and make into a thin batter.
  22. Spread the breadcrumbs on a plate.
  23. Cut the brown sides off the bread slices, we will be only using the white part.
  24. Smear the bread with mayo.
  25. Place 1 to 2 tbsp beef filling on the bread slice.
  26. Make it into a sandwich.
  27. Apply water on the edges & seal the edges well.
  28. Dip the sandwich first in the batter and then coat it with breadcrumbs.
  29. Deep fry in oil till golden brown & crispy.
  30. This will be super-duper crispy, listen to the cracking crispy sound as you bite on this delicious snack. YUM!
