Chicken legs/drumsticks marinated in a flavorful & aromatic homemade marinade and air fried to perfection. This is a healthy alternative to fried chicken without compromising the taste. The homemade marinade can be made ahead of time & stored in the refrigerator for a few days.

Ingredients
  • Chicken legs/drumsticks- 10
For making the homemade marinade
  • Chili powder- 1 tsp (or more based on your spice level)
  • Kashmiri chili powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  • Cumin powder- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala- 1 tsp
  • Salt- 1½ tsp
  • Garlic, grated- ½ tbsp
  • Ginger, grated- ½ tbsp
  • Cilantro, chopped- 1 tbsp
  • Mint leaves, chopped- 1 tbsp
  • Yogurt, plain- 3 tbsp
  • Lemon juice- 1 tbsp
Instructions
  1. Remove the skin from the chicken legs & clean well under running water.
  2. Add couple of lines over the chicken legs. Keep aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients mentioned 'for making the homemade marinade'.
  4. This marinade can be made ahead of time & stored in the refrigerator.
  5. Spread all over the chicken legs & let marinate at least for an hour. Can be marinated overnight in the refrigerator.
  6. Place the marinated chicken legs in the air fryer basket.
  7. Spread the marinade all over the chicken legs.
  8. Let marinate for an hour or longer.
  9. Remove the paddle attachment from the air fryer.
  10. Place the marinated chicken legs in the air fryer basket.
  11. Spray with non-stick cooking spray or coconut oil.
  12. Set the time to 25 minutes.
  13. The temperture should be 400 F or 200 C.
  14. After 25 minutes of air frying, flip them over.
  15. Air fry for another 5 more minutes.
  16. If you want the chicken legs to be more crispy you can cook for 5 more minutes (total 35 minutes).
  17. Enjoy with a salad or cauliflower rice.
