Hot Dog and Mixed Beans Masala
 
 
Ingredients
  • Hot dogs, cut into 2inch pieces- 5
  • Mixed beans or chick peas, canned- 1 can
  • Oil- 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves- 2
  • Onion, chopped- 1 large
  • Ginger-Garlic paste- 2 tsp
  • Green chilies, chopped- 2
  • Tomatoes, chopped- 2
  • Cumin powder- 1 tsp
  • Chili powder- ¾ tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Water- ½ cup
  • Lemon juice- 1 tsp
  • Cilantro, chopped- 1 handful
  • Salt- to taste
Instructions
  1. Cut the hot dogs into 2 inch pieces and keep aside.
  2. Rinse the canned beans or chick peas under running water.
  3. Heat a saucepan over medium heat, add oil.
  4. To the oil, add cumin seeds and bay leaves, let cumin seeds turn light brown.
  5. Add onions, salt and saute till onions turn tender.
  6. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies to the onion, saute for sometime.
  7. Add tomatoes and let it get mashed.
  8. Now, add cumin powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala and coriander powder, combine everything well.
  9. Add hot dogs and mixed beans, mix well.
  10. Add water and cook covered for 5-7 minutes.
  11. Open the lid and let the mixture thicken.
  12. Finally add lemon juice and cilantro, give it a stir and remove from the flame.
  13. Serve hot with basmati rice, chapati or batura.
Notes
•You could avoid hot dogs and make this with mixed beans or chick peas.
