Sesame Fried Rice Cake
For Cooking RIce
  • Basmati Rice, washed- 1½ cups
  • Water- 2½ cups
  • Salt- to taste
Making Sesame Fried Rice
  • Sesame oil- 2 tsp
  • Green pepper, chopped- 1
  • Carrot, finely chopped- 1
  • Beans, chopped, frozen or fresh- ½ cup
  • Peas, frozen- ½ cup
  • Ground pepper- ¼ tsp
  • Soy sauce- 2-3 tbsp
  • Tomato ketchup- 3-4 tbsp
  • Cilantro, chopped- 1 handful
  • Sesame seeds roasted- ¼ cup
  • Salt- if required
For Making Rice
  1. To the rice cooker bowl, add the washed rice, water and salt.
  2. Turn on the cook button and let cook.
  3. When it's done, remove the rice bowl from the rice cooker and let cool.
Making Sesame fried rice:
  1. In a non-stick pan roast the sesame seeds until it turns golden brown and keep aside.
  2. Heat a wide pan or wok over medium heat, add the sesame oil, to this add the veggies and stir fry the veggies until it turns tender and slightly browned.
  3. To the cooked veggies, add the cooked basmati rice and stir fry.
  4. Add the ground pepper, soy sauce, tomato ketchup and combine everything well.
  5. To this add the roasted sesame seeds and give it a stir.
  6. Finally garnish with cilantro.
  7. Serve Sesame fried rice with your favorite meat or veggie dish.
If you don't like too much of sesame flavor in your fried rice, substitute butter for sesame oil and for the mild sesame flavor add roasted sesame seeds.

Sesame fried rice cake presentation:
Transfer the prepared sesame fried rice back to the rice cooker bowl or any bowl of your choice and gently press the top of the rice layer with the back of a wooden spoon to make it even.
Cover the rice bowl with a platter and turn upside down, the sesame fried rice would fall on the platter like a cake with the bowl shape.
