Curd Oats- Oats Mixed with Yogurt

  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • Whole dry red chili- 2
  • Curry leaves- 10 leaves
  • Green chilies, chopped- 1 or 2
  • Ginger, chopped very small- 1 inch slice
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  • Instant Oats- 1½ cups
  • Yogurt or Curd, thick- ¾ cup
  • Water- ¼ cup (if using thick yogurt)
  • Salt- to taste
  1. Place a saucepan over medium heat, add oil, let turn hot.
  2. Add mustard seeds, let it splutter.
  3. Add whole dry red chilies, chopped ginger, green chilies and curry leaves. Saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add turmeric powder, saute for a couple of seconds.
  5. Add instant oats, combine well and saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Add yogurt or curd, combine well.
  7. Add salt and combine well.
  8. If yogurt is thick, add ¼ cup water and combine well for a minute.
  9. Do not over cook the oats as it till turn mushy.
  10. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  11. Remove the pan from the heat.
  12. Serve curd oats with pickle.
