Here are the dishes that I make often in the Instant pot, all of them can be made in just 5 minutes of pressure cooking.

1- Hard-boiled Eggs

Hard Boiled Eggs

Hard-Boiled Eggs
  • Eggs- 2 to 6

Instructions
  1. Turn on the Instant Pot.
  2. Add ½ cup water into the stainless steel pot.
  3. Place the trivet on the water.
  4. Place eggs on the trivet.
  5. Close with the lid.
  6. Turn on Steam Mode.
  7. Set the Time to 5 minutes. High pressure.
  8. After 5 minutes steam cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  9. Open the lid.
  10. Using a tong take the eggs out of the stainless steel pot.
  11. Immediately immerse the eggs in a bowl filled with cold water.
  12. This is to stop the cooking of the eggs, also helps to peel off the shells easily.
  13. Let the eggs rest in cold water for 5 minutes.
  14. After 5 minutes, peel of the shell.
  15. Rinse the shelled eggs under running water.
  16. Season with ground pepper and salt, enjoy for breakfast or with any meal.

  • Basmati Rice- 2 cups
  • Water- 2¼ cups
  • Salt- ¼ tsp
Instructions
  1. Turn on the Instant Pot.
  2. Rinse the basmati rice take in a strainer under running water.
  3. Add the rice to the stainless steel pot.
  4. Add water.
  5. :1 ratio rice:water will make crisp rice.
  6. I like soft rice, hence adding ¼ cup more water. For 2 cups rice add 2¼ cups water.
  7. Close with the lid.
  8. Turn on pressure cook mode.
  9. Set time to 5 minutes at high pressure.
  10. After 5 minutes of pressure cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  11. Open the lid.
  12. Fluff the rice with a fork, you will have soft and well cooked basmati rice.
  13. Serve along with your favorite curry.


Cooked Chicken Breast

Ingredients
  • Chicken breast- 1 or 2
  • Ground pepper- a few pinches
  • Salt- a few pinches
  • Water- 2 cups
Instructions
  1. Turn on the Instant Pot.
  2. If the chicken breast is frozen, defrost before adding to the pot.
  3. Season the chicken with ground pepper and salt.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken breast in the stainless steel pot.
  5. Add water.
  6. Close with the lid.
  7. Turn on Pressure cook mode.
  8. Set the time to 5 minutes at high pressure.
  9. After 5 minutes of pressure cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  10. Take the chicken out of the pot.
  11. You can shred or dice up the chicken; make into sandwich, add to salads, pastas, stir fry with noodles, make pita or tortilla wrap etc.

Sweet Corn Chicken Soup

  • Chicken breast, diced- 1
  • Chicken stock- 1 cup (stock from cooking chicken breast)
  • Cream style corn- 1 can, 400 mL
  • Soy Sauce- 1 tbsp
  • Ground pepper- ¼ tsp
  • Green onions, chopped- 2 stalks
  • Cilantro, chopped- ¼ cup
  • Salt- ½ to 1 tsp
Instructions
  1. Use the chicken stock that's left after cooking the chicken breast.
  2. Into the stainless steel pot, add all the ingredients. Combine well.
  3. Close the pot with the lid.
  4. Turn on Pressure cook mode. Set the time to 5 minutes at high pressure.
  5. After 5 minutes of cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  6. Open the lid.
  7. Ladle the soup into bowls and enjoy.

  5. Turn on pressure cook mode. Set the time to 5 minutes at high pressure.
  6. After 5 minutes of pressure cooking, do a quick pressure release.
  7. Open the lid.
  8. Taste the curry, add salt if required.
  9. Serve the red lentil curry into a bowl
  10. Serve the red lentil curry along with basmati rice.
