Oats, Strawberry and Yogurt Parfait

A healthy and parfait breakfast…

This is my latest favorite breakfast. It’s easy to make, tastes delicious and is healthy, what more do I need? Well, I am down with cold and sore throat. I tell ya, getting a cold in Summer is just awful. I’ve been sipping hot ginger black tea and herbal coffee. It had been very hot for the past 3 days and finally it rained heavily this morning. I took the day off, enjoying the rain and taking some good rest.

If you are looking for a healthy and easy breakfast recipe, here is one that you’ll be tempted to make every day. The word parfait is a French word meaning perfect.

Oats, Strawberry and Yogurt Parfait

Ingredients

Making: 1 glass

  • Instant oats- 1/2 cup
  • Milk, skim- 1/4 cup
  • Strawberries, chopped small- 3
  • Maple syrup or honey- 2 tbsp
  • Yogurt, plain or flavored (vanilla, strawberry etc)- 3 tbsp
  • Nuts, mix of almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, cashew nuts etc- 2-3 tbsp
  • Cherries or any fruits- to garnish

Instruction

  • Combine instant oats with milk and microwave for 1 minute or cook on stove pot for a few minutes or till it’s cooked well.
  • In a glass, it can be wine glass, dessert glass etc, spread the oats as the first layer.
  • Spread half of the chopped strawberries as the second layer.
  • Drizzle 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup over it.
  • Add yogurt as the third layer.
  • Layer it with nuts, again add chopped strawberries, drizzle honey or maple syrup.
  • Garnish with cherries or fruits of your choice and serve.
  • This can be served as breakfast or as an evening snack or as a dessert as well.
  • You’ll scream parfait!!!
