  • Baking powder- ¼ tsp
  • Baking soda- 2 pinches
  • Salt- ¼ tsp
  • Sugar- 1 tsp
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Yogurt- ¼ cup (plain & unflavoured)
  • Water- ¼ cup
Other Ingredients
  • Ghee
  • Oil- enough for frying bhatura
Instructions
  1. On a large platter, add all the ingredients for making the dough.
  2. Add water little by little to make a smooth dough. I've added total ¼ cup water.
  3. Knead well for 5 to 10 minutes till the dough turns soft and smooth. Kneading the dough is very important.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth. Else, the dough will turn hard.
  5. Keep aside for an hour. This is a must not to be skipped.
  6. After an hour, knead the dough again and make medium sized balls out of the dough.
  7. Grease a wooden board or clean surface with ghee.
  8. Place the dough ball and flatten the dough using a rolling pin to a round shape.
  9. Place a frying plan over medium-high heat.
  10. Add enough oil for frying.
  11. Let oil turn hot, very important oil has to be hot for bhatura to puff up.
  12. Drop the flattened dough into the oil.
  13. Fry for a minute.
  14. Gently press the edges using a slotted spoon. The dough will start to puff up. (Watch my cooking video)
  15. Let the bottom side turn golden in color.
  16. Flip it over and let the other side cook and turn golden in color.
  17. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  18. Repeat with other dough balls.
  19. You will be able to make 7 bhaturas.
  20. Bhaturas are enjoyed with chana masala, can also be served with chicken curry, veg stew, etc.
  21. Enjoy while it's warm, these bhaturas are super soft and will melt into your mouth. YUM!
